Vehicle Hire Insurance

When hiring a vehicle whether it be a car, van or motor home you are usually responsible for the first amount of any damage to the vehicle even if you're not at fault. This amount is known as the rental agreement excess or CDW excess which can be as high as £2,500 depending on the vehicle hired and its value. Many car rental companies offer their own excess waiver, some charging up to almost £25 per day.

Questor Insurance offers vehicle hire excess insurance which not only insures the rental agreement excess, but also covers the tyres, windscreen and vehicle keys. With four products; car hire excess insurance, motor home/campervan excess insurance, van hire excess insurance and minibus hire excess insurance. Each has been designed to be easy to understand and quick to purchase.

Motor Excess Insurance

Motor Excess Insurance allows you to insure the excess on your motor or commercial vehicles insurance policy. Our policy covers your deducted excess when you have a claim that is equal to or greater than the total excess amount of your main vehicle insurance. We offer three excess protection products; private motor excess insurance, young drivers motor excess protection and commercial motor excess insurance covering commercial vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes. All products offer four annual limits £350, £750, £1,000 and £2,000.

Lloyd’s is proposing to transfer certain EEA insurance policies to Lloyd’s Brussels. The proposed transfer will not change terms and conditions of any policy, except that Lloyd’s Brussels will become the insurer and Data Controller in respect of the transferred policies.

Further information about the proposal (including whether it could affect your pre-transfer position), which policies are transferring, your rights and what you need to do can be found at

Please note this notice is only applicable to our non-UK resident customers who purchased an annual policy between 15 June 2020 and 31 October 2020 that have not yet made a claim against their policy. Please note that Lloyd’s of London and Lloyd’s Brussels both hold the same excellent financial strength ratings: AM Best (A “excellent”), Standard & Poor’s (A+ “strong”) and Fitch (AA- “very strong”) so this does not devalue your policy in any way at all.”
