Kent’s fame as a tourist hotspot continues after it has been named the best family holiday destination in Europe in a recent poll by Lonely Planet.
The announcement came as part of the firm’s ‘Best in Europe 2015’ roundup which placed Kent ahead of destinations such as Normandy in France and Ireland’s County Kerry.
A region of regeneration
The county was praised by Lonely Planet for the variety of opportunities it offers “curious young minds” as well as its varied attractions which include the stunning footpaths along the White Cliffs of Dover and the much-anticipated Dreamland amusement park which is set to open this weekend.
Lonely Planet also found there has been tourist resurrection in Kent’s coastal towns with more travellers flocking there every year.
Tom Hall, Editorial Director of Lonely Planet, explained:
“Kent has a huge amount to offer travellers of all ages, including beautiful countryside and wonderful views of the Channel.”
A number of towns along Kent’s coast also boast a diverse range of restaurants and attractions – something which Mr Hall said this provides families with far more choice in the way of a holiday.
Yet, while Lonely Planet honed in on the family-friendly credentials of the county, the region has witnessed regeneration with a far broader appeal.
Eight major castles, along with the award winning Port Lympne wild animal park, are just some of the different attractions which can be visited while holidaying in Kent.
