One in three business travellers would reduce their salary for the chance to travel more for their job, according to a survey from Booking.com.
The survey found that 30% of business travellers would accept a lower-paying job if it meant they would be able to see more of the world.
Previously business travel was seen as inconvenience, however the survey revealed that workers now see it as an opportunity to find inspiration and make progress in their career.
Just under 50% of business travellers have extended a business trip to a different county or city over the past 12 months, whilst 27% intend to do so during 2017.
However, just under half (46%) of those surveyed believe they will travel more for business throughout 2017, when compared to last year.
The booking website also looked at the fastest-growing destinations for business travel, which include Shanghai, Tokyo, Bangkok, Guangzhou, New York, Budapest, Singapore, Hong Kong, Prague, and Amsterdam.
A similar survey from Egencia – the business travel arm of Expedia – found that business travellers are changing how they book their reservations.
More than 65% of respondents indicated they prefer to book and manage their travel across a range of devices, not just via their smartphone.
Interestingly, 51% revealed that they would try and avoid human interaction whilst travelling on business unless they had a problem they needed help with.
The survey – involving 4,521 business travellers from the UK, America and Australia – also revealed that 49% believe Wi-Fi increases their productivity whilst travelling.
Non-stop flights, extra time off to offset time traveling, and class upgrades for flights lasting longer than six hours, are the perks that business travellers value the most.
If you’re thinking of travelling abroad this year, be sure to organise your business travel insurance in advance.
