Jordan welcomed a significant increase in UK visitor numbers during the first quarter of 2017, up by 15.8% when compared to the same period in 2016.
Figures from the Central Bank of Jordan show that nation’s earning from tourism went up by 15.4% between January and May in 2017.
The increase in UK visitors has resulted in Flash Pack, a new tour operator, creating a specialist program for solo travellers aged 30 to 40 years old.
All of the places on the tour were sold out in less than three hours and the guests are set to travel to Jordan this October.
The popularity of the tour highlights the demand for tourism in Jordan, and as a result, Flash Pack are now set to introduce an extra nine tours in 2017 and 2018.
Another factor for the increase in tourism was the launch of the country’s first signature 18-hole grass golf course in Aqaba, located on the Red Sea coastline.
The course was designed by former professional golfer Greg Norman, and it is hoped that it will attract visitors to the country to enjoy the new facilities.
A host of new hotels are also opening throughout the year – Hilton Hotels and Resorts launched their first property in Jordan, the Hilton Dead Sea, in March on the eastern shores of the Dead Sea.
The Jordan Trail has also added to the country’s appeal to travellers – the hiking route is a long-distance trail starting from Um Qais in the north to Aqaba in the south.
Offering 40 days of hiking, whilst travelling through 52 villages and towns on its way, the trail gives travellers the chance to stop at iconic spots and experience the country’s culture.
