Everyone knows that booking hotels at the right time can save money, and now new data from TripAdvisor has revealed that these discounts can be worth as much as 26% in popular cities across the world.
The company's "Best Time to Book" summer report shows the right time to book hotels this summer in popular destinations across the world in order to get the best deals.
The research, based on TripAdvisor hotel pricing data, offers the example of booking a hotel in the US as the least expensive time to make a reservation is within three months of a summer trip, with possible savings of around 9% compared to peak pricing.
City by city
The information goes into deeper detail with regional and city-by-city reporting. At the city level, booking within two months of a summer trip to Paris can save up to 23% on peak rates.
“Bargain hunters know that timing is crucial when it comes to booking the lowest hotel prices,” explained senior director of communications for TripAdvisor, Brooke Ferencsik.
“By doing their homework and comparing prices on sites like TripAdvisor, along with using insights from this report, travellers can discover the best deals on their hotels for summer.”
The Best Time to Book report covers pricing data on hotels for the summer period in nine prevalent regions and 30 popular cities around the world for the period between June and August inclusive.
Details for other cities included booking within two months for 23% savings in New York City and three to nine months ahead for 33% savings in Barcelona. For those considering Cape Town, you should book four months in advance to bag 18% worth of savings.
