Virgin Atlantic is the first airline from the UK to participate in the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) screening process when departing from airports in the US.
The TSA screening process means travellers spend on average five minutes less when passing through security.
Passengers who have passed through the pre-check do not need to remove belts, light jackets or shoes, whilst laptops and compliant liquids can remain in hand luggage.
Customers who qualify for the process enter a valid Known Traveller Number (KTN) or Customs and Border Protection (CBP)-issued ID in their Virgin Atlantic reservation.
If passengers are pre-approved then they will see a TSA Precheck indicator on their boarding passes, allowing them to head through the fast-track security screening area.
A fast-track lane may be unavailable for a flight; however, customers can show their boarding pass to receive accelerated screening in a standard lane.
Mark Anderson, Executive Vice President, Virgin Atlantic, said: “We are thrilled to be the first UK airline to offer our customers the ability to expedite their security screening process in the US using TSA Precheck.”
The new feature for travellers is part of Virgin Atlantic’s commitment to provide passengers with the most relaxing and enjoyable experiences.
Precheck on flights will allow travellers from the US to the UK to have a stress-free journey from the moment they enter the airport to the point that they arrive at their final destination.
Virgin Atlantic customers who are eligible for TSA Precheck include TSA precheck members (open to US citizens and lawful permanent residents) and global entry members (open to UK and US citizens, US lawful permanent residents, and eligible citizens in certain other countries).
