Estonian capital Tallinn is the cheapest European city for a pre-Christmas getaway, according to a new study.
For those looking to get away before Christmas on a budget, a break to picturesque Tallinn is the cheapest option according Post Office Travel Money, who looked at 11 different destinations in Europe that Brits can easily reach for a shopping holiday.
The study looked at the cost of a two-night break for two, including accommodation, flights, drinks and food – with a break to Tallinn costing just £537.89 when departing from London in early December.
Riga in Latvia was found to be the second cheapest destination, where a two-night break costs just under £10 more at £546.73.
Making up the top three cheapest destinations is Prague, in the Czech Republic, costing £581.99, which is just £30 cheaper than Munich in Germany.
The priciest destination for a mini-break was found to be Stockholm in Sweden, where a short stay costs £800.69, which is £50 more expensive than the next most costly destination, Vienna.
Post Office Travel Money's Andrew Brown said travellers need to do their homework when planning their trips if they want find destinations offering great value for money.
The Post Office also looked at the prices of six different designer goods – Levi 501 men's original fit jeans in stonewash, Ugg classic short boots, Clinique long last lipstick, Apple iPad Air 2 (32GB Wi-Fi), Fitbit blaze, Marc Jacobs 'Daisy' eau de toilette 100ml – and compared the cost of them to London.
All of luxury gifts cost around £873.49 in London, while they can be found 14% cheaper in Munich, Germany – coming out on top in the study, where they cost £751.18.
You can also make savings for these goods in six other European destinations, including Budapest, Strasbourg, Riga, Vienna, Berlin and Lille.
Whilst Prague was found to be one of the cheapest destinations for a mini-break, you can expect to pay 13.4% more for the same items, totalling £990.83.
