The UK’s busiest airport has launched the first flight aggregation Facebook tool in partnership with Skyscanner.
‘Go Heathrow’ will help customers search for the best priced deals when flying from the airport, and will sit within Heathrow’s Facebook platform.
This will be the first time that the search based technology will be used on social media, allowing customers to search and book flights directly from their feed.
It has been designed to ensure users find the most competitive fares for their chosen destination from across a wide range of travel and airline websites, ensuring customers have plenty of choice.
An innovative approach
This will be the first time that Heathrow has directly supported airline partners with ticket sales, bringing more than 180 destinations in 85 countries together in one place.
It is also the first time that Skyscanner has formed a partnership with a specific airport to build a travel search tool.
Skyscanner provides travel search facilities for more than 50 million monthly visitors and has worked closely with Heathrow to create the highly innovative and unique flight search tool.
The tool itself is powered by Skyscanner’s leading flight search technology, which connects airlines and routes from the company’s data straight to Heathrow users.
Exciting new way for travellers to engage with Heathrow
Mike Ferguson, Skyscanner’s Senior Commercial Manager described the new search tool as an “exciting new way for travellers to engage with Heathrow”, enabling them to find holiday’s from the comfort of their social media feed.
The ultimate aim for the technology is to try and make planning and booking as easy as possible for customers by providing a wide range of destinations at their fingertips.
Heathrow’s Head of Passenger Communications, Marc Ellams, said the airport is excited by the launch and sees it as a way of ensuring that customers can find journeys, holidays and fares that suit their needs.
