A French travel company has revealed the most expensive tourist resorts in Europe, with party hotspot Ibiza coming in first.
New research from Allo Voyages has revealed August’s priciest spots for a break, with holiday makers spending an average of £215 a night for a double room in party hot sport, Playa d'en Bossa on the White Isle.
Positano, a Cliffside village in Italy (£206), and the picturesque village of Oia, Greece (£205), were ranked second and third, respectively.
Most of those ranked within the 20 most expensive resorts from across Europe came from traditional hotspots such as Spain, Italy and Greece.
However, there was room for one UK resort – St Ives, Cornwall – which was ranked as the seventh-most expensive destination within Europe, with the cost of a double room for a night reaching £189.
Formentera, Spain, (£203) and Saint-Tropez, France – a favourite among celebrities – (£194) came in fourth and fifth, respectively.
Porto Cervo, Italy (£190) finished ahead of St Ives by just an extra £1, whilst the rest of the top 10 were Mykonos, Greece, (£183) in eighth, Gallipoli, Italy, (£180) in ninth, and Porto-Vecchio, France, (£173) in tenth.
Allo Voyages, a holiday provider, did not include hotels based away from beaches, and also said that the prices were calculated by using the average price for a double room in a minimum three-star resort in August.
New research, released by the Office of National Statistics, has shown that UK residents are not shy when it comes to splashing the cash whilst on holiday, with the amount spent increasing by 12% in the 12 months leading up to May 2016.
The same figures also revealed that over 16 million Brits enjoyed a spot of sunshine abroad.
