Thriving urban destinations
The AC Hotels brand was originated by renowned hotelier Antonio Catalan, who founded it in 1998. Under his leadership, the business grew to become one of the most well-respected hotel brands in Spain. A joint venture was formed with Marriott International in 2011 and the name was launched internationally around Europe and the U.S.
Global VP, Lifestyle Brands, Marriott International, Toni Stoeckl, said: “These two new UK hotels are a wonderful example of design, style and sophistication, situated in revitalised thriving urban destinations – perfectly reflecting the AC Hotels brand ethos.
“They support our commitment to driving growth for our lifestyle brands in Europe and respond to a continued demand from discerning travellers seeking hotels with thoughtful, modern design that calms and enriches the guest experience.”
The Manchester Salford Quays AC Hotel features 142 rooms in a prime spot in the heart of the vibrant regenerated district which is home to MediaCityUK, Old Trafford Football Stadium and the Lowry Theatre.
The AC Hotel in Birmingham City Centre is located on the site of the former Royal Mail sorting office which is now an exclusive shopping area. Its 90 rooms mean that guests can enjoy easy access to the city’s major attractions such as the National Indoor Arena and Barber Institute of Fine Arts.
Both hotels feature the signature AC Lounge which is a creative hotspot during the day and at night-time becomes a social hub offering local craft beers, signature cocktails and a selection tapas-style food.
A quiet space called The AC Library offers a more sedate area away from the buzz but is also another social space for guests to use for meetings or relaxation.
