Harmony of the Seas has made history by docking in the port of Southampton. As the World’s largest cruise ship it attracted hundreds of onlookers to witness her first arrival into port.
Major milestone
The ship is a major milestone for fans of world cruises and for the owners, Royal Caribbean International, as it is now the 25th ship in its fleet after taking 32 months to be constructed.
Royal Caribbean’s Oasis class of ships are known for having a unique seven-neighbourhood concept and the latest edition is no exception. More than half a million individual parts have been used in the intricate design of the vessel which measures 362 metres and weighs 226,963 gross registered tons.
With 2,100 dedicated crew members onboard, the Harmony of the Seas will officially launch her inaugural summer season on 7th June when it begins the first of 34 seven-night western Mediterranean sailings.
Redefining holidays
President of Royal Caribbean International Michael Bayley said: “Harmony of the Seas is redefining holidays and intriguing a new generation of travelers with a bold and unexpected line-up of first at sea innovations, while enticing them to explore the world from a new perspective.”
