Brits love a good flight deal and that's why easyJet and Ryanair have proved so successful over the years. Now, low-cost airline Norwegian has made quite an impact on the budget airline market here and now the carrier is expanding its offerings from UK airports.
New flights from Manchester and Edinburgh airports will service three popular Spanish destinations.
Huge growth in the UK and free Wi-Fi
From 30 April, there will be two weekly flights from Manchester to Barcelona and from 2 June, four weekly flights will leave Manchester for Malaga. A day later a new service will see two weekly flights to Alicante begin. Edinburgh will have a new service to Barcelona from 15 June with 15,000 seats available over the summer.
Norwegian operates from Manchester and Edinburgh with brand new Boeing 737-800 aircraft which offer passengers free Wi-Fi at 35,000ft.
Chief Commercial Officer at Norwegian, Thomas Ramdahl, said: “As we continue our huge growth in the UK, these new Manchester and Edinburgh routes complement our existing city and sun destinations across Europe. With new aircraft and free in-flight Wi-Fi, we are providing sun seeking Brits throughout the UK with high quality and affordable flights to the most popular destinations.”
More choice and availability
Commercial Director at Manchester Airport Stephen Turner welcomed the new routes and pointed out that the three new destinations are incredibly popular and will add more choice and availability for the 23 million passengers who use the UK's third biggest airport.
Gordon Dewar, Chief Executive at Edinburgh Airport said: “This direct new route between Edinburgh and Barcelona is fantastic news – it offers even greater choice and is further confirmation of Edinburgh Airport's position as a leader for connectivity between Scotland and the continent.”
He went on to congratulate Norwegian for recognising the growing international demand for direct links to Edinburgh and having similar aspirations for growth as the airport itself.
