Although most Brits will be thinking about their spring or summer getaways, Ryanair reminds everyone that flying out in the colder months can be a good idea too as the carrier has announced its 2016 winter schedule for flights from Newcastle airport.
The plans see the budget airline reveal its biggest ever Newcastle winter schedule which will include two new routes to Lanzarote and Tenerife.
There will also be a new winter service to Malaga from Newcastle and amongst the planned further growth there will also be more flights to Alicante and Dublin.
Ryanair will essentially double its Newcastle traffic with the new schedule, which means it will deliver 330,000 customers per year and support 250 jobs at the North East's leading airport.
The carrier has made using regional airports a big part of its successful strategy and the new announcement also reflects the way in which Newcastle Airport has become an increasingly big player in the UK's airways industry.
Robin Kiely, Ryanair's Head of Communications, said: "We are pleased to launch our biggest ever Newcastle winter 2016 schedule."
The news was also welcomed by Newcastle Airport, whose Chief Executive, David Laws said: "Today's announcement is great news for the North East travelling public as Ryanair continue to build its presence in the region, offering even more choice and availability from Newcastle Airport. Sunshine destinations like Tenerife, Lanzarote, Malaga and Alicante are always incredibly popular and great for winter sun holidays.
"Dublin is also one of our most popular routes so with increased frequency even more people from the North East will be able to experience a wonderful city, and we look forward to welcoming even more passengers from Ireland into the North East," he explained.
