With many Brits hoping to travel to destinations such as France and Belgium to enjoy traditional Christmas markets this year, booking seats on Eurostar trains has just become far simpler and quicker thanks to the launch of a new app.
The new Travelport seat Map App for 9F, by Travelport, is designed to give travel agents the power to see exactly which services are available on any particular train.
New state-of-the-art trains
Travelport, a leading Travel Commerce Platform, has announced the launch of this new application at the same time as Eurostar is preparing to unveil a brand new state-of-the-art fleet of trains that will run between London, Paris and Brussels.
Agents will be able to see a colour-coded and interactive enhanced seat map that will not only show the layout of the train in question but also a seating plan for each coach and class of ticket.
Brits travelling on key routes to the continent will be able to enjoy fast and comfortable journeys on the new trains and UK travel agents will be able to book the operator's content under airline carrier code 9F as they do currently.
Choice and flexibility
Commenting on the new app, Travelport's Managing Director for the UK, Ireland and the Nordics, Simon Ferguson said: “In such a competitive industry, it has never been more important for travel agencies to meet the needs of the end traveller, which means offering them choice and flexibility when it comes to their travel options.”
He added that the new technology should have a highly positive impact for businesses on either side of the Channel.
As the app is fully integrated with Travelpoint Smartpoint, the industry's leading point of sale solution, travel agents will be able to book and make future changes to seat configurations in exactly the same way as they do for air travel.
Eurostar's GDS Distribution Systems Manager, Nigel Richardson, explained that the app was needed for "travel agents to book our content easily” before adding that it has been “instrumental in achieving this”.
