Many parents across the country are facing fines for taking children on holiday during school term times. Booking a holiday for you and your family can cost you up to an extra 40% for choosing popular school holiday dates.
With current legislation parents are unable to take their children out of school during term time unless authorised with the school. In order for authorisation there must be exceptional circumstances such as illness, medical appointments or a bereavement. For unauthorised absences parents may be fined £60. This fine can increase up to £2,500 and the parents may also be jailed for up to 3 months and/ or receive a parenting order.
At Questor Insurance we know how important it is to find the right holiday at the right price, that’s why we have put together the below guide for finding the right holiday for your family.
Book your summer break at term time prices:
Shop around - Be sure to shop around, check comparison sites and even contact companies direct to get a better offer (after all there’s no harm in trying)
Book early or late – Booking both early and late could get you a great deal, however sometimes there is just no knowing if you book an early offer whether the later offer may be better!
Annual travel insurance – Travel more than one a year? You can save you and your family by purchasing an annual travel insurance policy, for a free quotation click here.
Share the costs – Many holiday homes can sleep up to 12 people, why not share the cost and share the accommodation with friends or another family.
Collect tokens – Keep an eye on newspapers and collect any coupons and vouchers which can save money on your holiday.
Fly on a week day – Avoid flying on popular days such as Fridays and Saturdays, many weekday flights are much cheaper and maybe less busy.
Look at booking flights separately – Consider booking aspects of your holiday separately. Tailor make your holiday and not only will it be exactly what you want, but you could also save yourself money.
Car Hire – Avoid paying for expansive car hire excess protection at the sales desk by purchasing car hire excess protection in advance.
