The remote volcanic island of Galapagos has been voted by travellers as the best island in the world, according to a recent poll conducted by a leading travel magazine.
Known for its exotic list of animals and plants, the Galapagos is located only 600 miles from the coast of Ecuador and is high on the bucket list for many travellers.
The Travel and Leisure magazine listed the top 10 islands across the globe, according to their readers, with the results as follows:
1. Galapagos Islands, Ecuador
Famous for the work of Charles Darwin - where he first established his theory of evolution while studying wildlife on the islands - the Galapagos and an unsurprising top entry.
2. Bali, Indonesia
Placed in second position, Bali is an incredibly popular destination for both British and Australian travellers.
