Cambridge International Airport launches direct flights to northern Italy this summer, it has been announced.
This first-time flights will offer seat only fares to Verona, located in northern Italy ready for the summer of 2015.
New flights taking off
This new announcement follows from the success of the Inghams’ package holidays to the Italian lakes.
The new seats available at Cambridge airport are set to launch in May 2015 and cost £299 return.
The weekly flights set to take off will be operated by the award-winning UK regional airline, Eastern Airways.
Flights are set to take off on a weekly basis, every Saturday from May 16 to July 04 and from September 05 to 26.
The flights are thought to be the only direct flight from the UK to Verona. Leaving the UK at 9am each Saturday, passengers will arrive in Verona at 2pm allowing them to enjoy fortnightly trips to the stunning Italian lakes.
Popularity amongst independent travellers
Verona airport is popular amongst travellers because it is a direct gateway to Venice – located just an hour away – along with the Adriatic Rivers.
Alternatively, holidaymakers can join the many cruise departures taking place from Venice on a weekly basis.
The cost of flights will cover the cost of all taxes and charges, along with complimentary hand luggage and hold baggage. In-flight refreshments and snacks are also included in the overall price passengers will pay.
Tickets are available exclusively though Cambridge airport reservations and in-house ticketing service.
The Head of Business and Route Development at Cambridge airport, David Surley, added that because this is the only direct flight from the UK to Verona, they are expecting it to be incredibly “popular amongst independent travellers looking to explore this very special area of Italy”.
Surley noted there is a market for 10,000 passengers between the two locations every year so, this should be excellent news for those sightseers.
Discounted car parking is also being offered at Cambridge International Airport from £5 per day.
If you’re thinking of travelling abroad this summer, it’s important to ensure you have European travel insurance in advance
