Austria has been named as the destination which is set to become a firm fixture on the tourist map in 2015, according to a new travel ranking.
The ranking comes as part of the Travel Trends Report 2015 from ABTA which names the top ten locations 'to watch' in the New Year.
The picks were compiled with the help of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) and Austria's lead is continued by the following destinations:
2. Botswana
3. Cuba
4. Dominican Republic
5. Japan
6. Latvia
7. La Gomera, (Spain)
8. Norway
9. Pacific Coast (USA)
10. Singapore
Earlier this month, Tripadvisor's list of Travellers’ Choice Destinations on the Rise placed Da Nang (Vietnam) as the top destination on the rise for 2015 with the rest of the top ten list dominated by destinations in Asia, including the following:
2. Sihanoukville, Cambodia
4. Ao Nang, Thailand
6. Naha, Japan
ABTA's report also revealed further insights into the shape of traveller behaviour in 2015, with more than a third (35%) of Brits planning to head to a country they have never ventured to before.
City breaks are also set to continue to hold their top position in 2015 with 43% of Brits planning for this type of holiday in the New Year, while 42% are setting their sights on a beach break.
Authentic holiday experiences are also set to be high up on travellers' agenda as they explore all four corners of the globe in 2015.
And when it comes to the amount of cash Brits are set to spend on their holidays, it seems that UK travellers are split between letting loose with their travel money (20%) and spending less than their holiday budget in previous years (15%).
Mark Tanzer, ABTA Chief Executive said:
“We do expect to see the slow but steady signs of recovery that have been characteristic of 2014 continue into next year. We are seeing strong growth from the most affluent end of the market and we expect this to drive interest in luxury and tailor made packages.
“The rest of the market remains resilient with value for money continuing to be a priority. Holidaymakers want their holiday to work hard for them, whether that’s by offering new experiences, combining different destinations or simply delivering great value.”
If you are planning more than one trip in 2015, why not organise multi-trip travel insurance in advance?
