The nail-biting climax to one of the world’s most well-known singing contests is just around the corner, and the public will be tuning in from today (October 3rd) to watch the competition’s stars singing their hearts out for the coveted X Factor title.
And to add a touch of glamour to the proceedings, the final auditions for the competition will be taking place against the backdrop of a range of exotic locations, with contestants giving it their all in the intimidating surroundings of the ‘judges houses’.
As the official airline for this leg of the competition, BA flew judges and contestants out in style to the balmy climes of Bermuda, Cancun, Los Angeles and Nice.
Here’s what the contestants and judges had to say about each location:
Judge Louis Walsh didn’t only reserve his amazement for the quality of talent on offer in the X Factor finals; he also found time to be wowed by this impressive Caribbean island.
“I think it might be the most glamorous destination I’ve ever been sent to! This is a make or break stage for the groups, so it was a perfect retreat for them to unwind ahead of their performances,” he said.
Other statements revealed by the survey include the following:
* Immersion =Immerse myself in local culture + Meet new people & make memories
* Relationships = Enjoy moments with loved ones+ Strengthen existing relationships
* Harmony = Restore sense of harmony/balance+ Feel looked after/taken care of
* Order = Time out to think & regain control + Feel organised / avoid surprises
Former Spice Girl Mel B and guest judge Emma Bunton cast their critical ears over contestants at the party-packed Mexican beach resort of Cancun. Two competition finalists revealed why they couldn’t get enough of this Mexican gem.
Paul Akister, said: “Cancun was so good. It was really hot and amazing - everything about it. I stepped off the plane and then it sort of settled that we were in Mexico and about to sing for Mel B!”
Jake Quickenden, who also secured a place said: “I’m from Scunthorpe and don’t really go to that many good places usually. So, to go to Cancun and knowing that you’re going be in an amazing house with these guys - it was like ‘wow’”
Los Angeles, USA
Simon and guest judge Sinitta acted as a formidable duo when they cast their votes on finalists in the entertainment capital of the world.
Finalist Fleur East said: “The journey was great. I stepped off the plane and felt the warmth of the country. Driving through LA felt just like being in a movie.”
Cheryl Fernandez-Virsini headed to the French Riviera with Tinie Tempah alongside her to give her final verdict on the ‘girls’.
Chloe Jasmine, one of the girls in Cheryl’s category, said: “Travelling to Nice was like a holiday, it was nice that it was close to home and it felt like going away with friends rather than being in a competition.”
