If you’ve had the land famed for its springs, geysers and active volcanoes on your ‘must-see’ list for some time then now may be the perfect time to back your bags and make a beeline for Iceland’s bustling capital.
To mark its 2-year anniversary WOW air, Iceland's only low-cost airline, is offering passengers the chance to snap up 1 or more of a 1,000 tickets priced at £49 per person each way to from Reykjavik from 3-16 June. Tickets will go on sale at www.wowair.co.uk and travellers can choose from departure dates from 3 June to 31 October 2014.
WOW air operates from London Gatwick to Reykjavik with twice-daily departures on Monday, Thursday and Sunday. Outlining why Reykjavik is the perfect city break destination and detailing which attractions travellers won’t want to miss, the airline said:
“There are many reasons to visit the land of fire and ice this summer. Those opting for a city break in Reykjavik in August can enjoy Culture Night, the pinnacle of the Icelandic cultural calendar, which offers art exhibitions, concerts, film screenings, Icelandic dance performances, fairs and a spectacular midnight fireworks show by the harbour, as well as the glittering Reykjavik Pride Festival; a six-day celebration of fun and freedom. “What's more, Iceland's gloriously long summer days allow plenty of time to awe at the country's breath-taking scenery which can be enjoyed on a classic Golden Circle tour, with a spot of snorkelling in the crystal clear waters of the Silfra fissure in Þingvellir national park or horseback riding in the lava fields surrounding Mt. Helgafell volcano, all just a three-hour flight away.”
Offering holidaymakers even more options for their Iceland getaway Icelandair has also recently announced that it will be operating flights out of Birmingham Airport starting on February 5th 2015. Twice-weekly flights will operate on Thursdays and Mondays, with the journey taking just under three hours.
If you are heading off on an overseas holiday in the coming months, it is important to organise multi-trip travel insurance in advance.
