British Airways (BA) has announced a deal with Humberside Airport based flight operator, jetXtra.com, that will see it operate flights to two popular destinations in Spain in the coming months.
The deal will see BA operate flights to Alicante and Majorca on behalf of jetXtra.com using Embraer jets, one of the largest aircrafts manufacturers in the world. Flights to Alicante will begin in May 24th with a weekly Saturday service, while flights to Majorca will operate from July 26th.
Commenting on the routes, jetXtra.com founder, Daniel Reilly, said: “We are delighted to confirm that we have secured a deal with British Airways to operate our flights to Alicante and Majorca for summer 2014. We want to build the offer at Humberside Airport and offer these holiday flights. “There’s definitely the possibility of this being a long-term deal and there is definitely potential for this to continue in the future.”
Welcoming the announcement, Humberside International Airport commercial director Paul Litte, said: We are delighted that the tour operator, JetXtra, has again decided to operate from the airport to Alicante and Palma for summer 2014. The success and high demand for the services last year have shown that passengers want to fly from our airport. "Spain continues to be a very popular destination. Clearly, using the UK flag carrier airline is a coup and we look forward to welcoming the first flights in May.”
Airline passengers can book flights on the route with BA’s travel agency based at the airport terminal or with JetXtra directly. Summer 2014 will also see a number of additional routes operate out of Humberside Airport including Dubrovnik, Croatia; Enfidha, Tunisia; and Bourgas, Bulgaria.
In addition to BA, a number of high-profile operators also fly from the airport including KLM and SAS. If you are planning a trip to the continent in 2014, it is important to secure European travel insurance in advance.
