Hobbit fans around the world are eagerly anticipating the second instalment of the film franchise and for three lucky Middle-Earth aficionados their dreams will be turned into a fantastical reality as they jet off to see the premiere movie screening in Tinseltown.
In its role as the Official Airline of Middle-Earth Air New Zealand is offering travellers the chance to attend the red carpet premiere of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug in Hollywood and see Bilbo Baggins set off on his intrepid adventure.
Fans who want to be in with a chance of scooping the amazing prize will first need to watch Just Another Day in Middle-earth, the airline’s newly released video, which stars Air New Zealand’s flight attendants, pilots, aircraft engineers, an aircraft marshall, baggage handlers, airport staff and 120 extras!
The video has a film-inspired twist, with the central message that 'Middle-earth is closer than you think', inviting travellers to embark on their own unexpected journey. Kiwi Dean O'Gorman, who plays dwarf Fili, and the voice of Sylvester McCoy, The Hobbit Trilogy's Radagast the Brown, also stars in the video. He said:
“The cast and crew have been travelling to New Zealand so much over the past few years the airline's become like a second home to some of them and they just love the uniquely Kiwi service. It was great to be involved in this video and see so many Air New Zealand staff having a bit of fun with all the Hobbit film references."
Those who have watched the video can then enter for a chance to win one of four trips for two to either the premiere of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug in Los Angeles, including airfares, accommodation and rental car or to Middle-earth (New Zealand). If you are hiring a car as part of your trip abroad, you could make significant savings on the cost of your excess by taking car hire excess insurance out in advance.
