Ctrip adds car rental services to its online travel offering

Pov1The world’s second largest online travel agent has unveiled plans to makes its international car rental service more widely available.

Ctrip, China’s primary travel agent service will make hiring vehicles possible via Trip.com, its international one-stop travel booking service.

Travellers will be able to book hire cars in more than 6,000 cities across the globe via more than 130,000 rental outlets.

Not only does this mean more choice for customers – more than seven million vehicles are available for hire – but it also makes managing a holiday or business trip a great deal easier.

A mobile version of the desktop site is also in the pipeline, so travellers will soon be able to do more than just book flights, train tickets and hotels through Ctrip.

All car hire firms were screened prior to being included on the new website in order to ensure quality services.

The Group’s Rental Car Chief Executive Yuchen Wang said having the ability to seamlessly access car hire services was deemed to be a crucial step in developing the Trip.com platform.

He added that car rental is increasing in popularity among both business and leisure travellers, while it also opens up more areas of the world by increasing accessibility in tourist hotspots.

By increasing access to difficult to reach locations

Ctrip suggest that the number of Chinese travellers using vehicles on their trips abroad has surged by 300% in recent years.

Creating entire itineraries for trips away is more common now than previously, as travellers look to ensure that all aspects of their holidays are mapped out.
