Employees believe business travel is key to professional success

Success1Business travellers believe that work trips are an important part of achieving professional success, according to research conducted by Booking.com for Business.

More than 17,000 business travellers from 24 countries were polled, and six in ten revealed that visiting new destinations and experiencing other cultures adds value to their job.

Nearly half revealed that their main aim when travelling for business is to enhance their company’s prospects and improve the business.

The research also found that 51% believe that using their spare time away from work to explore the area improves their performance during meetings.

Demand for business-friendly accommodation was also found to be growing, with 60% of respondents saying that hotels that cater specifically for working travellers are essential.

Just under 50% revealed that they require their accommodation to have convenient access to their meetings, whilst 29% opt for a location in the city centre.

Strong Wi-Fi signal and a comfortable bed were among the amenities that business travellers think are the most important, closely followed by free transportation and a good breakfast.

Ripsy Bandourian, Senior Director of Product Development at Booking.com for Business, commented: “Regardless of profession, today’s business travellers are savvier about the value up for grabs, both for their companies and for themselves.”

The survey comes as plans have been revealed to make business travel to the UK easier from 15 new countries, by extending the Registered Traveller Service.

As a result, business travellers and regular visitors from 40 countries will now be able to enter the UK quicker, making travel much more efficient.

New countries, such as Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Seychelles and Trinidad & Tobago, will now join the likes of the United States, Australia, Canada and Japan, who are already enjoying the service.

Immigration Minister Brandon Lewis said: “Registered Traveller is one of the many ways in which the government is making it easier for businesses across the world to do business with the UK.”
