Business travellers carry four different types of technology

Business1Business travellers have been found to carry four different types of technology with them whilst travelling, according to the CWT Connected Traveller Study.

The survey sought the opinion of more than 1,900 business travellers and found that a smartphone is a travel tool they cannot live without.

More than 80% of respondents revealed that they are reliant on their phone to conduct business whilst travelling abroad.

Business travellers in the UK were found to be some of the least fussy, with nearly half revealing that they find booking their corporate flights easier than their leisure ones.

The main reason UK business travellers jet off is for conferences or industry events, whilst more than half (53%) revealed that they like to make their trips as short as possible so they can get home.

Business travel was found to be stimulating to 72% of respondents, whilst 78% said that they seek out opportunities to jet off for work.

In terms of technology, airline and hotel apps are the most popular amongst business travellers, with 41% admitting to ‘heavy use’.

Simon Nowroz, Chief Marketing Officer, Carlson Wagonlit Travel, believes technology has played a huge part in making business travel more attractive to workers.

“Think about the advances where a business traveller used to have so much down time between a flight, taxi and hotel. Now, they can login and work while on the plane or wherever they happen to be,” said Mr Nowroz.

In order to stay in touch with family, whilst travelling, 44% call home, 24% interact using Skype and 17% regularly text their loved ones.

Just over two-thirds of travellers revealed that they think travel is safer today than it has ever been, with 68% revealing that they ‘sometimes or always’ purchase travel insurance.

If you’re thinking of travelling abroad this year, be sure to organise your business travel insurance in advance
