All inclusive holidays found to save travellers money

Friends1Travellers can save more than £400 by booking an all-inclusive holiday rather than a bed and breakfast package, according to new research by Post Office Travel Money.

All-inclusive holidays are incredibly popular among travellers, and the research analysed a number of packages and then compared them with three-star hotel and flight deals, as well as adding in the cost of meals and drinks.

Research showed that an all-inclusive package to Marmaris, Turkey, would cost £1,229, which is 27% cheaper than a bed and breakfast package with food and drink included.

That means travellers would save £462 on their holiday, and also avoid the stress of having to find individual restaurants for the family.

British travellers heading to the hugely popular destination of Majorca can also find similar savings, with an all-inclusive package working out to be 24% cheaper than a bed and breakfast deal.

The survey analysed 2,000 travellers and also found that families tend to spend more than their budget when everything is not included in their holiday package.

Just over 70% of travellers revealed that they spent an extra £321 on extras outside of their holiday package.

Andrew Brown, of Post Office Travel Money, said: “All-inclusive holidays are becoming increasingly popular with families because of the potential to control spending.”

Around 40% of families also admitted that all-inclusive holiday’s appeal to them because it reduces the cost of food and drink for their children.

The Association of British Travel Agents says one in four families are opting for an all-inclusive package this year, compared to less than one in five in 2016.

There has been a consistent rise in interest for all-inclusive packages since 2011, particularly among younger travellers.

If you’re thinking of travelling abroad this year, be sure to organise your family travel insurance in advance
