Singapore Airlines named best airline in the world by Conde Nast Traveller readers

FlightConde Nast Traveller’s Readers’ Choice Awards survey has named Singapore Airlines as the best airline in the world outside of the United States.

Readers of the luxury travel magazine voted the carrier in to top spot, which means Singapore Airlines has now been ranked in first place for 28 of 29 years of RCA survey results.

The airline typically scores well when it comes to seat comfort, in-flight service and reliability, but has also received praise for continually upgrading its product. It recently introduced a new premium economy cabin for super long-distance transpacific routes.

Voted in second place was Emirates, who offer a range of posh perks for premium fliers and who received a lot of votes for its airport lounges which offer showers and quiet rooms.

Air New Zealand claimed third place; the airline offers some of the longest flights in the world and pays close attention to legroom and seat comfort – business fliers on a budget can opt for the premium economy “spaceseat," a pod-like seat with extra legroom.

Qatar Airways, the launch customer for the world’s newest aircraft – the cutting-edge Airbus A350 – claimed fourth spot.

The airline boasts one of the industry’s youngest fleets and is also just one of five that have received a five-star ranking for service by Skytrax, an airline and airport review and ranking site.

Finishing in fifth place is All Nippon Airways, the largest airline in Japan, which flies to 42 destinations and offers long-distance travellers both premium economy and business class products.

The airline is also well known for its service, which has been described as impeccable, and fantastic food in which passengers can dig into a traditional Japanese multi-course dinner.

Making up the rest of the top ten is Virgin Australia, Virgin Atlantic, Korean Air, Porter Airlines and Qantas respectively.
