easyJet voted best low-cost airline in Europe

easyjeteasyJet has been crowned best low-cost airline in Europe, following a survey of 16,000 travellers by online travel agency eDreams.

The airline beat competitors including Monarch and Ryanair, as nearly two thirds (63%) of British travellers voted in favour of EasyJet.

Europeans also backed the low budget airline, with more than a fifth of the total votes (22%) going to easyJet.

Coming in second was Ryanair, which managed to amass 18% of the votes, whilst 12% voted for Norwegian Airlines.

The new survey follows the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) latest World Airline Transport Statistics, released in August this year which found Ryanair to be the world’s favourite airline.

Travel expert Kasia Jankowska said: “It has never been easier to see the world and low-cost airlines have played a huge role in making that experience possible for even more travellers. “

The poll comes as easyJet has recently released its spring flights for 2017, which show a record number of flights and routes will be available to passengers.

More than 138,780 additional flights are set to take place across the airline’s network between 26 March and 25 June 2017 – including the Easter and May half term periods – providing seats for more than 23.5 million passengers.

An additional 16.1 million seats are now on sale to and from the UK, on just over 94,870 flights.

Sophie Dekkers, easyJet’s UK Director, said: “For those looking to jet off on holiday, we have a number of exciting destinations to choose from – whether you’re looking for a beach break or an active adventure, we really do have something for everyone.

“Passengers travelling for business can also take advantage of our regular and convenient flight times to major city airports across our network.”
