APT launches cruises around Europe’s top locations for cyclists

Those interested in cycling will soon be able to experience some of Europe’s top locations following the launch of two new cruises from APT.

Launching in April 2017, the cruises are hoping to tap into the increasing popularity of bike excursions by offering cycle enthusiasts of all levels the opportunity to experience a different type of holiday.

A team of experts will lead gentle-paced excursions along paths around the riverbanks of Europe, with a dedicated vehicle to offer any necessary technical support just behind.

One of the new cruises, called Cycling Magnificent Europe, will see guests cycle and sail their way along the Rhine, Main and Danube Rivers to experience a taste of Europe’s heartland.

In total, the cruise will offer seven cycling excursions, most notably including the chance to ride around Vienna and Cologne.

The cruise will last for 15 days and will depart from Amsterdam, in the Netherlands, in late April and the middle of September 2017, calling at Cologne, Bonn, Andernach, Rüdesheim, Miltenberg, Würzburg, Bamberg, Nuremberg, Regensburg, Passau (all in Germany), Salzburg, Linz, Melk, Dürnstein, Vienna (all in Austria) and Budapest (in Hungary), where passengers disembark.

Another cruise will also be launched targeting more experienced cyclists, called the Bordeaux by Bicycle cruise, which will include four days of traditional French cycling excursions.

Passengers will be able to cycle past and sample the fruits of Bergerac’s world-renowned vineyards and take in the picturesque scenery.

The eight-day cruise will depart from Bordeaux in early July and late September 2017, calling at Cadillac, Pauillac, Blaye, Bourg, Libourne and Saint-Émilion, before returning to Bordeaux, where the tour finishes.

Experts believe that bike holidays will continue to be extremely popular amongst travellers, particularly after the UK’s continued success in the sport at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

If you’re thinking of travelling abroad this year, be sure to organise your family travel insurance in advance
