World’s most expensive airline ticket goes on sale

World’s most expensive airline ticket goes on sale

Etihad has introduced the world’s most expensive airline ticket, costing £55,000 for a return fare from London to Melbourne in a three-room A380 ‘Residence’ suite.

The Residence suite is a three-room ‘penthouse in the sky’ that comes with its own chef, butler and spacious lounge area.

Guests will be able to make use of a 32inch flat-screen TV, double bed and bathroom, with a shower and hair dryer.

The most expensive ticket previously was £52,000 for a return stay in The Residence from New York to Mumbai, but this has now been surpassed by an extra £3,000.

Customers will have to change plane in Abu Dhabi, but they will be ushered into Etihad’s first-class lounge to ensure the lavish experience never stops.

The expensive cabin is only available on Etihad’s fleet of Airbus A380-800 aircraft, and its introduction has helped the company win a number of awards for its first-class travel offerings.

Available for single or double occupancy, the room measures 125 square feet in total area, and is located on the forward upper deck of the A380.

Within the cost of the ticket is luxury chauffeured transport to and from the airport, a personal travel concierge who can reserve tables or source tickets to concerts, access to a private lounge and private check-in. Each of the Etihad’s A380 flights also has a nanny on board, trained by Norland College in Bath.

The deployment of the ticket from Etihad points towards the strong demand from UK travellers for a premium travel experience to Australia.

Etihad launched The Airbus A380 during an event at Abu Dhabi’s airport in late 2014, showcasing The Residence as well as its revamped first class and business suites, and small changes to the economy cabin.
