Ryanair welcomes next gen Boeing 737-800

BoeingThe latest milestone in the partnership between Boeing and Ryanair has been reached as the airline takes delivery of its 400th Next-Generation 737-800.

The low-cost carrier which is a favourite of Brits looking for a bargain flight now has the largest fleet of Next-Generation 737-800s in the world.

Industry leading

Michael Hickey, Ryanair Chief Operations Officer, said: “The Boeing 737-800 aircraft, with its industry leading technical reliability and seating capacity, has been the foundation upon which our successful and safe growth has been built upon, since we took our first delivery in March 1999.”

He added that the firm is “delighted” to be taking delivery of the new aircraft, which he said includes addition leg room and the Boeing Sky Interior to enhance the customer experience.

30 years and over 30 countries

The low cost airline pioneer has been operating for more than 30 years and today it is the largest Boeing operator in Europe. It schedules more than 1,800 daily flights which carry 106 million passengers to more than 30 countries every year.

Monty Oliver, Vice President of European Sales, Boeing Commercial Airplanes, commented: “A key factor in Ryanair’s continued success is the outstanding economics of the Next-Generation 737-800.

“This 400th 737 delivery is a special milestone for both our companies and we are honoured that Ryanair continues to be an all-Boeing operator.”

There are still a further 130 unfilled orders for Next-Generation 737-800s to be delivered to Ryanair, who will also be the launch customer for the 737 MAX 200, the latest member of the 737 MAX family.
