Global Technology giant signs distribution deal with easyJet

EasyJetBritain's favourite low-cost carrier easyJet has agreed a new long-term distribution deal that will enable the airline to carry on serving business passengers.

The deal with Sabre, the innovative technology company which prides itself on ‘connecting the global travel eco-system’, will allow European corporate travel agencies to use the tech giant's Global Distribution System (GDS) to access easyJet's fares.

Increase in business passengers

Over the past five years easyJet has agreed a large amount of corporate contracts and passengers travelling on business currently account for approximately 20% of passengers who fly with the budget carrier.

The new agreement with Sabre will enable the airline to continue building on the ever important corporate segment of the market. The GDS relationships that easyJet has built up over the years are credited with helping it to increase its share of the business travel market.

Achieving business goals

easyJet's inventory was originally made available via the GDS in 2007. Commenting on the relationship between the two travel giants, President EMEA of Sabre, Harald Eisenaecher, said: “We have collaborated closely with easyJet over the past eight years to support their business goals and corporate travel strategy.

“During this time, Sabre has helped increase sales among corporations, travel management companies and travel agencies, and expanded easyJet’s reach in new and existing markets where Sabre has entered and grown. We look forward to continuing our close relationship.”

Service enhancements

easyJet launched their plans to attract more business passengers to their services in 2010. Since the introduction of added extras such as Fast Track Security, allocated seating and inclusive fares, they have been able to appeal to more and more corporate travellers. Commercial Director of easyJet, Peter Duffy, explained: “It remains of paramount importance to have a key distributor like Sabre accessing our fares including key products like inclusive fares and corporate negotiated fares.”
