New easyJet Amsterdam, Barcelona and Zurich flights from Luton
Brits who like to take advantage of budget flights from smaller airports will be pleased to know that easyJet will be adding 12 extra weekly flights from London Luton Airport this year.
Additional scheduled flights to Amsterdam and Barcelona will begin over the summer and an extra daily flight to Zurich is set to follow in the winter.
Travellers will be able to take advantage of an extra 85,000 easyJet seats on flights between Luton and the capital cities of Holland and the Catalan region of Spain. This will mean the carrier's year round frequency to Barcelona will go up to three flights a day and there will be up to six flights a day between Luton and Amsterdam.
The expansion of capacity on just these routes will mean easyJet will carry nearly three quarters of a million passengers a year to and from Luton on those flight paths alone. However, even more good news is the announcement by the budget airline that is intends to double daily flights to Zurich in Switzerland next winter.
Neil Slaven, easyJet UK Commercial Manager, said: “Amsterdam, Barcelona and Zurich are extremely popular connections from Luton and we’re therefore delighted to be able to cater for the extra demand. In doing so it enables us to continue our expansion at the Airport.”
“We have added a significant number of extra seats which allows us to continue to provide affordable, convenient connections for our customers whether they're travelling on business or leisure,” Slaven added.
Luton is an important airport for the airline which caters for 51 routes operating from there. The carrier's growth at Luton will include basing an additional four aircraft there this year, which will bring the total number of easyJet aircraft at Luton to 19.
It is expected that more than six million passengers will use easyJet services from Luton in 2016, a rise of half a million over the last twelve months.
