Marriot opens new Courtyard hotel in Jamaica

Jamaica The choice of hotels for Brits wanting to holiday in the Caribbean has increased thanks to opening of The Courtyard by Marriott Kingston.

With a central location in New Kingston, Jamaica, The Courtyard has opened its doors to a wide range of travellers and holidaymakers.

Luxurious and spacious

Designed for comfort and functionality, the generously sized rooms are bigger than what Brits holidaying on the island can expect from other hotels in the same market category. Featuring contemporary lounge furnishings, luxurious bedding and the highest-speed internet access available, Courtyard has something to appeal to all types of visitor.

President of the Caribbean & Latin America at Marriott International, Inc., Time Sheldon, explained that Courtyard by Marriott offers “excellent value in the mid-tier market”, an area he suggests is underserved.

“The hotels adapt well to the lifestyle needs of both its domestic and international guests,” he added.

The Marriott brand

Featuring state-of-the-art facilities such as a fitness centre and swimming pool, hotel guests can also expect to dine in Centro, the Marriott brand's informal restaurant with a choice of local dishes such as “Must Have” Jerk Chicken Pasta alongside the Centro Burger.

With more locations than any other Marriott International brand, Courtyard has over 1,000 locations in more than 40 countries. Brits staying in a Courtyard hotel can experience an atmosphere that's designed to make them feel connected, productive and balanced during their stay.

A member of the community

Right from the very start, the hotel has made a point of trying to boost the economy of Jamaica by connecting with and giving back to the local community. Working in tandem with the Citizen Security and Justice Program (Youth at Risk) to date The Courtyard, By Marriott Kingston has provided employment for five of its participants.

On-site solar panels will produce 5% of the hotel's energy and it will be made up of 30% of regional materials. With a very eco-friendly approach, design and construction allowing it to apply for a LE.E.D Silver Certification, the building itself will be 30% more energy-efficient than comparable buildings with a 16% reduction in water consumption.

If you are planning a trip to the Caribbean don't forget to arrange your Long-Haul Travel Insurance in advance.
