Thomson Cruises launches new flights

DubaiBritish boating fans will be pleased to know that Thomson Cruises has unveiled a new vessel in the UAE from winter 2016 and is launching flights to complement its launch.

The travel firm has announced new flights to jet off from Newcastle to Dubai so that cruise fans can join up with its Celebration ship.

From winter 2016, the 704ft, nine deck vessel which has a capacity of 1,254 passengers and 520 crew members will move its home port to the UAE.

Setting sail from Dubai

To coincide with this move there will be two different seven-night trips that will call at Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Qatar and Oman – and will also fly from six different UK airports, including Newcastle International.

Helen Caron, Managing Director at Thomson Cruises, said the firm is aware that destinations are a key deciding factor for many British customers, and the decision to set sail from Dubai will allow holidaymakers to see and experience more destinations than ever before.

Dubai is becoming increasingly popular among the Brits that are in search of a bit of winter sun, so it’s fair to say they are as excited as Thomson Cruises to welcome this new destination, she explained.

Ms Caron noted that with the average Brit visiting more than 14 foreign countries in their lifetime, this is an exciting time for all, with the glamour and opulence of Dubai and Abu Dhabi up for grabs.

Discovering a major cruise port

On sale from November 2015, the two seven-night itineraries, aptly named Arabian Nights and Cities of Gold, will stop overnight in Dubai and visit six destinations, including Khasab and Muscat in Oman, Manama in Bahrain and Doha in Qatar.

This route will be on top of Emirates daily 428-seat Newcastle to Dubai service.

Chris Sanders, Aviation Development Director at Newcastle International Airport, said he was extremely pleased by the launch of this new route.

Dubai is a “major cruise port” and these additional flights will offer even more choice to the existing daily Emirates flights, he added.
