Ryanair predict cheaper flights this winter

Winter sunSun-seeking Brits hoping for a bit of winter sun will be pleased to know that the cost of flights could fall by up to 8% this winter.

Budget airline Ryanair has predicted a price war among European airlines this winter; great news for the Brits who want to get away from the daily grind without spending a fortune just before Christmas.

The price war gets fierce

The low-cost airline believes passengers will have the advantage of saving between 6-8% on flight ticket prices over the next few months due to the tumbling cost of fuel.

The Daily Mirror also quoted Kenny Jacobs, the Marketing Chief at Ryanair, commenting that this “big drop” has given airlines much more financial power.

This news is fantastic for British consumers as there will be a fare war which looks to be “very, very aggressive” he added.

Airlines said they currently purchase their jet fuel months in advance and are only beginning to benefit from the falling fuel prices – which is set to make a huge difference to the plane tickets going on sale this winter.

Mr Jacobs also told The Times newspaper that Germany is set to be the location where flights will be cheapest.

New flights scheduled around the world

Ryanair is hoping to take control of around 20% of Europe’s aviation market within the next five years; compared to just 5% which they control today.

This news came as the budget airline announced its summer 2016 schedule, which will see new flights jetting off to Milan, Verona, Sofia and Vilnius.

Ryanair noted that its UK customers can now choose from over 150 London routes next summer and can also look forward to a number of further improvements being made to the airline – as its Always Getting Better programme reaching its second year.
