TripAdvisor launches app for Apple Watch

Holiday AppsLeading travel site TripAdvisor has announced the launch of its new app for the Apple Watch, available now on the App Store.

The new TripAdvisor app is aimed at providing timely travel advice to all holidaymakers around the world and features unprecedented access to reviews, ratings and photographs of restaurants, hotels and attractions.

Users carry information on their wrists

The much talked about Apple Watch includes a feature named “Glances” which works to allow users to get a series of updates from their favourite apps by simply swiping the watch face.

The new TripAdvisor Glance will work to provide timely updates and recommendations for users in order to help them explore new points of interest during their travels.

These recommendations will be tailored to match the time of day. For example, at midday the app will recommend the highest rated restaurants nearby that are suitable for lunch.

Other features of TripAdvisor’s app include walking directions (perfect for sightseeing), helpful search options and a “saves” function which allows users to bookmark their favourite places of interest and top attractions for quicker navigation.

Senior Vice President of Global Product at TripAdvisor Adam Medros added that this new app allows users to “carry the invaluable insights of millions of travellers on their wrists”.

Whether users are in their local town or visiting somewhere new, the app will make exploring “elegant and effortless”.

Mederos explained that TripAdvisor is currently the world’s most popular travel app “with 175 million mobile app downloads worldwide on the phone and tablet”.

The travel advice company look forward to capitalising on this new app via the Apple Watch and will make it available for purchase from app stores on April 24.

If you’re thinking of travelling abroad and exploring new places with expensive technology like the Apple Watch then it’s especially important to arrange worldwide travel insurance in advance
