Easyjet introduces 2nd cabin bag policy for its plus customers

More LuggageTrying to squeeze a full range of holiday essentials into a tiny carry on case, can be one of the major pitfalls of travelling with a low-cost airline.

easyJet has now revealed that it will be giving its easyJet plus customers - those carrying an easyJet plus card or purchasers of flexifares or upfront or extra legroom seats - the chance to bring an additional piece of hand luggage onboard flights from March 19th.

Passengers that fall into the above category can add a handbag or laptop sized bag to the already charge-free 56 x 45 x 25cm carry on bag and duty free bag.

Commenting on the changes, Peter Duffy, Commercial Director for easyJet, said:

“easyJet is always looking to make travel easier for our passengers. We already have a generous cabin bag policy with no charge or weight limit, but some of our customers have been telling us they would like the option of an extra, smaller, under seat bag such as a handbag or lap-top case.  From 19th March, we are introducing this for easyJet plus customers.

“easyJet plus customers are among our most frequent and loyal passengers and this is another way of recognising their importance to easyJet and providing them with more value when they fly with us.”

Ryanair's second carry on bag policy came into effect at the end of 2013. Passengers travelling with the airline can bring onboard one cabin bag weighing up to 10 kg with maximum dimensions of 55cm x 40cm x 20cm, plus 1 small bag up to 35 x 20 x 20 cms.

The key difference between the two airline's offerings in this respect is that easyJet does not impose a weight limit on the main cabin bag.

If you are heading off on holiday in the coming weeks and months, it is important to organise multi-trip travel insurance in advance.
