easyJet launches new livery - and its trademark orange still takes centre stage

Woman on HolidayBudget airline easyJet has revealed its new look livery, with the overhaul the first to take place since 1998.

As part of the new look, the airline's trademark orange has been extended from the tail fin onto the fuselage, with the change designed to accommodate the easyJet logo which has grown in size by 15%.

The airline has also done away with the '.com' appendage to make way for the livery's more streamlined look, while an orange stripe 'reflecting the design language of easyJet's advertising' has been added onto the fuselage.

197 Airbus A320 aircraft - replacing the older A319 aircraft fleet - have been ordered by the airline and the new livery will appear on new aircraft deliveries from April 2015.

Peter Duffy, easyJet’s Commercial Director, commented:

“easyJet’s aircraft livery is one of the most recognised in aviation. As we approach our 20th birthday in November, we felt a refreshed livery would complement the many changes already made to easyJet including allocated seating, transparent prices, flexible tickets and our award winning mobile app.

“As you would expect from easyJet this is a low cost makeover – all our new planes will be painted with the new livery, but we’ll only re-paint the old ones as needed. It could take five years for all the fleet to sport the new paint job!”

Future looking bright for easyjet

easyJet has recently announced an increase in both passenger numbers and revenue for the quarter ending December 31st 2014.

The number of passengers carried by the airline rose by 4.1% to reach 14.9 million whilst total revenue grew by £34 million to £931 million.

On the figures Carolyn McCall, easyJet Chief Executive said:

“easyJet has made a good start to the year by continuing to deliver its strategy of making travel easy and affordable for passengers.  We enjoyed a strong October across the network - particularly on UK leisure flights to beach destinations and on French domestic routes where we continued to build passenger numbers after a busy September.”

If you are planning a holiday abroad, it's important that travel insurance forms a key part of your pre-holiday to-do list.
