Travelling with Ryanair? You can now pay by PayPal

When booking all the different elements of your holiday, having to get your debit and credit card out again and again can make organising the finer points of your break a tedious process.

But thanks to the wonder that is PayPal you only need a login and password to hand to make those all important purchases. Now low-cost Irish airline Ryanair has revealed that its 86m customers will be able to book their flights using their PayPal account going forward, speeding up the booking process.

The latest announcement comes in a long line of changes made by the airline designed to woo travellers which include allocated seating, a second free cabin bag, a new website and app and a dedicated family service. Commenting on the PayPal partnership Ryanair’s Chief Marketing Officer, Kenny Jacobs said:

"Millions of European consumers use PayPal on a daily basis and as Europe’s biggest airline, Ryanair is pleased to launch our new partnership, offering our 86m customers even more ways to book and pay for Europe’s lowest air fares on the Ryanair.com website. “Our partnership with PayPal is the latest element of our Always Getting Better programme and our commitment to the continued improvement of our customer experience, and follows the introduction of allocated seating, a free second carry-on bag, reduced fees, a new website, a new app and mobile boarding passes and our Ryanair Family Extra service. We will next unveil our tailored business product, as we continue to offer so much more than just the lowest fares.”

Earlier this year the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) Top 100 Airlines: Ranked by Traffic (Passengers) placed Ryanair in the top spot with 81.3m international passengers carried last year. Commenting on Ryanair’s success, Ryanair’s Robin Kiely said at the time:

“Consumers choose Ryanair for our lowest fares, great routes choice and our improving customer experience, including our new website, allocated seating, a free 2nd small carry-on bag allowance and PED (portable electric device) use on all flights, as Ryanair continues to deliver so much more than just the lowest fares for our 81.3m customers.” If you are heading off for a stint on the continent, it’s important to organise European travel insurance in advance.
