British Airways planning to provide unique ‘rail experience’ for passengers

British Airways passengers who are bored of the usual in-flight movies and TV programmes on offer will shortly be able to try an entirely new form of entertainment on long-haul flights.

The airline has decided to provide a real-time, 7-hour train journey in a unique new approach to in-flight entertainment. The journey was recorded using a single camera that was fixed to the front of a train on the long journey from Bergen to Oslo in Norway.

There is no commentary, editing or additional gimmicks attached to the video. It will be offered to passengers in its purest form and is designed to give customers a unique relaxation experience to act as an alternative to the usual entertainment choices. There is no commentary, editing or additional gimmicks attached to the video. The onset of ‘Slow TV’ -It is potentially the most striking example yet of ‘Slow TV’ available on travel methods. The theory behind this concept is that travellers who may be stressed can gain access to a unique form of therapy which might help them drop off to sleep or simply keep them calm. Reports have emerged that BA have carried out their own observations on the behaviour patterns of customers and they don’t necessarily follow convention.

Indeed, it seems as though some passengers would prefer to watch the in-flight map than the same selection of movies they may have already seen a few times if they are frequent travellers. Only time will tell how popular the new method of entertainment will be, but it is likely that a number of customers will appreciate the new option and potentially vote with their feet accordingly.

Whatever entertainment choices you opt for on your next journey, the importance of travel insurance should not be overlooked. It could be the most important decision you make surrounding the journey....more important even than which film to watch.
