A Great Staff Bake Off – but what to do with the leftovers??

The national effect of the fantastic TV show 'The Great British Bake Off' has reached the Questor Insurance office, sprinkling it's magic on the team! Outside of the office, the team are up to their elbows in flour and having nightmares that their custard has split, competing in weekly head to heads alongside the weekly show stopper category, aired on a Tuesday evening.

Tensions are running high over who will make the best meringue and who has the soggiest bottom! Practice of course makes perfect and in some cases there are just too many ingredients left over to throw away but not enough to create a culinary master piece, therefore one of the team has come up with some great ideas on how to use said leftovers:

Egg - Hair Conditioner. Ok, so your fridge is overflowing with eggs because you couldn't resist the bargain in the supermarket, now you have no idea what to do with them… Well did you know, if you you beat two-three egg yolks, massage them into your scalp, then put a shower cap and heated towel around your head for 30 minutes before you rinse, you would have given your hair a deep conditioning treatment?! Its much cheaper than going to the hairdressers, or paying out for those expensive brands, and does the job all the same! Eggcellent!

Lemons Juice - Hair lightener. Lemon Juice has its place in a cake, but as a freshly squeezed drink, its somewhat... SOUR! If you find yourself having loads’a lemons, heres what you can do… Mix one cup of lemon juice with ¼ cup of warm water, tip the mixture into an empty spray bottle and spray into your hair until it is all damp. Expose your hair to sunshine for 30-60 minutes, then rinse out. Please note your hair may become very dry due to the acid in the lemons stripping your hair pigments (causing the lightening effect), you should follow with a deep conditioning treatment to restore some life back to your hair. If you have no deep conditioners, get the eggs out!

Bicarbonate of soda - Carpet cleaner. Before bed, sprinkle Bicarbonate of soda all over your carpets, leave over night, and when you get up do a once over with the hoover. You’ll be surprised with the results, it’s as if you have steam cleaned your carpets with your hoover, if only the results were that good every time you hoovered!
