Perfect passenger-single male in their 30s

The ideal flight passenger has been identified as a single, male 30-something, according to a new study.

They survey, which was completed by more than 700 international cabin crew, found that the best passengers are solo male travellers aged between 31 and 40 who travel for pleasure rather than business and sit in economy class.

English men are more likely to be the perfect passengers, according to cabin crew operating in British airspace. Men from Wales were deemed the least favourite. Travel search website Skyskanner conducted the survey, posing questions to cabin crew of 85 different nationalities.

The poll revealed that luxury-loving celebrities should be avoided. Cabin crew typically prefer working in economy class rather than serving passengers in first or business class. The cabin crew also identified some of the most annoying passenger habits which they have to work with.

Passengers clicking fingers to get the attention of airline staff was deemed as the most annoying habit with a massive 26% of cabin crew stating this. The second most irritating passenger habit is leaving the seat before the light goes off, with 13% of those polled suggesting this. A further 11% said that stuffing too many bags in the overhead locker was the most annoying passenger habit. “This is the first time that we’ve surveyed international cabin crew and the findings give us a real insight into what they really think of passengers,” said Skyscanner’s Sam Poullain.

“It must be frustrating for cabin crew when passengers try and cram as much hand baggage in the overhead locker as humanly possible, however carrying only hand luggage can save passengers quite a lot of money as the cost of putting baggage in the hold can be very expensive. Unless airlines charge less for hold luggage, I don’t see this changing.” Those heading overseas might wish to take travel insurance before they leave, to protect themselves financially while they are away.
