Parents of twins sweeten the deal for fellow airline passengers

Flying can be stressful enough, but when there is a crying baby onboard it can become something of an ordeal.

As bad as one baby can be, twins are even worse. So passengers on an American flight recently must have feared the worst when a young couple with two baby boys got onboard. With the full knowledge that airline passengers normally reach for a pair of ear plugs and ready a series of huffs and puffs to express their displeasure about ‘babies onboard’, the savvy parents decided to take pre-emptive steps to appease their fellow passengers.

The parents distributed goodie bags filled with sweets to passengers; a charming act that touched the hearts of those onboard. A note attached to the bag, ‘written’ by the little ones themselves, also acted to endear passengers to the family’s plight. It read:

“We're twin baby boys on our first flight and we're only 14 weeks old! We'll try to be on our best behaviour, but we'd like to apologise in advance just in case we lose our cool, get scared or our ears hurt. “Our mom and dad (AKA our portable milk machine and our diaper changer) have ear plugs available if you need them.”

The novel approach was posted on social news site Reddit by someone on the flight, gathering 3,000 comments and one million views. The youngsters managed to stay true to their word, impressing travellers with their impeccable behaviour throughout the journey. As one traveller explained:

“The parents were fantastic and the kids were better than would be expected. Mom was super nervous and obviously very tired, but still extremely nice to everyone around her. “Not a mean or frustrated word from dad either. Saw them meeting his parents at baggage, who were seeing babies for first time, and got a bit teary.” While travel insurance won’t cover you for a crying baby on a flight, it can ensure you are protected financially should you have an accident or be the victim of crime.
