Ireland's Travel Warning for Nepal Has Been Lifted
Irelands government has decided to lift the strict travel advice that was in place about travelling to Nepal. This was put in place following the devastating earthquake that struck the country back in April 2015, the decision to lift the strict travel advice was made by the tourism authorities. The number of Irish tourists visiting Nepal has been increasing rapidly in recent years, and this is expected to continue to rise.
“The trekking agencies couldn’t send Irish mountaineers to Nepal due to the previous travel advisory, which made it difficult to get travel insurance”, stated by Deepesh Man Shakya, the Nepal Tourism Board’s public relations representative for Ireland. “The new travel advisory has now opened the door for all Irish tourists to go to Nepal on a holiday or an adventure trip without any pending restrictions.”
After the decision was made to lift the ban was made there was a meeting of delegates from Nepal and Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs. Further countries such as New Zealand and the USA have already made the decision to lift the restrictions that they had placed on travelling Nepal after last year’s earthquakes.
