Easter - The time of Chocolate Bunnies and Hot Cross Buns
Easter is almost here and whilst some of us might be thinking of chocolate bunnies, hot cross buns and associated traditional Easter icons how about doing something a bit different?
At Questor we pride ourselves on thinking about different, more unusual locations to travel to. This month, how about taking a trip to Easter Island? Easter Island is one of the most isolated islands in the world, located in the pacific and roughly half way to Tahiti. It is most famous for its 887 monumental statues, called Moai, created by the early Rapa Nui people.
Many people might assume that only the highly intrepid traveller can get to Easter Island. In fact, the island is accessible by regular commercial air service and tourism is the main industry of the island.
Still, it is rather "out of the way" for most people, with a minimum of more than 5.5 hours in the air from the nearest continent, and very limited routes to get there. To get about on Easter Island most people chose to opt to rent a car. It normally takes at least 2 full days to see all of the main sites. Extra caution should be taken into account when driving after dark since horses or cows that roam free on the island might be standing right in the middle of the road. You have been warned!
If you were a bit more energetic or adventurous, bicycles are also available but you should be well-prepared since summer months can be exhausting due to combination of heat and humidity. Some protection against wind and rain is highly recommended between June and August.Somewhere a bit different to think about? Maybe add to your list of places to visit?
Enjoy your Easter everyone - whatever you are planning to do!
